HTCIA Midwest Chapter Meeting
November 17th, 1:00 pm

The Midwest Chapter of HTCIA will be holding its next meeting on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 1:00. It will be at our usual location (I.C.E. at the Tower in Oakbrook Terrace), although we’ll be on the 15th floor rather than the 16th. In addition to David Kovar’s presentation on building a small forensics lab (described further below), we will also be holding nominations for the Chapter’s 2010 board. Nominations will be taken from the floor. A nominee need not be present, but the nominator must confirm acceptance prior to the meeting in that circumstance.
For our substantive presentation, David Kovar will speak on building small forensics labs, ranging from a laptop and a collection kit up to what might be appropriate for a small corporate lab or consulting firm. The presentation will include a discussion on digital collection kits and the importance of well designed forms for guiding the various processes.
David has an extensive IT background, and is currently working for Digital Strata (digital-strata.com) providing forensics and ediscovery services to their clients. He is applying computer forensics to investigations and supporting in house ediscovery projects through research and collections. Prior to the current engagement, he managed and performed collections throughout the US and Asia for a major ediscovery firm.
